Veeda Pearl Smith, of Dunlay passed away February 12, 2025 at the age of 77. She was born January 29, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Buster Smith and Bebee Pearl Wren Smith.

Veeda grew up in Houston and graduated from Aldine High School. On July 29, 1966, she married James William Burns in Houston. Veeda was an avid book reader and had many good character traits. A stranger was a friend never met.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, James Burns of Dunlay; son, James E. Burns of Dunlay; daughter, Lysandra Burns of Dallas; grandchildren, Crystal, April, Dakota, Michelle, Shaina, and Courtney; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her brother, Hershall Smith.

Veeda was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Emily; and her brother, Marvin Smith.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Graveside Service and Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, Texas 77055.

Memorials may be made in Veeda's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
