Tomas “Tom” Ramon Garza, of Castroville, Texas, passed away October 31, 2026 at the age of 86. He was born September 21, 1940 in Pearson, Texas, to Pablo Lascano Garza and Angelita Pedroza Garza.

Tom graduated from Castroville High School in 1959. In 1961, he joined the United States Army, proudly serving as a paratrooper and a 101st Airborne Screaming Eagle for three years. On November 13, 1981, Tom married Natalia 'Nettie' Martinez in Castroville, where they built their life together and raised their family.

Survivors include his wife, Nettie Garza of Castroville; children, Tommy Garza (Elaine) of Bandera, Johnny Garza (Monica) of San Antonio, Tony “Chon” Garza (Lisa) of Castroville, Matthew Garza (Marketa) of Czech Republic, Lawrence Garza (Kristina) of San Antonio, Andi Gonzales (Michael) of Castroville, and Judy Garza of Castroville; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Guadalupe ‘Lupe’ Ruiz of Castroville; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jose Garza, Pablo Garza, Jr., and Magdeleno ‘John’ Garza; sister, Herlinda Garza; and brother-in-law, Ray Ruiz.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 10, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home Interment with military honors will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
