Adella Therese Hitzfelder Fitzpatrick Bendele of Rio Medina, passed away on August 12, 2022 at the age of 94. She was born October 26, 1927 in La Coste, Texas, one of six children born to Alex Hitzfelder, Sr. and Adella Kauffmann Hitzfelder.

Therese graduated valedictorian from La Coste High School in 1946 and then attended Our Lady of the Lake University. She worked at the the Medina County Clerk's office in Hondo for many years until she retired.

On February 21, 1950, Therese married Jack Michael Fitzpatrick at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Jack passed away just five years after their marriage on May 28, 1955, leaving Therese to raise their two small children on her own. She found happiness again when she met Roy Bendele. On July 4, 1975, she married Roy Bendele at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo. Therese and Roy were blessed with almost thirty years of marriage at the time of Roy's passing on March 16, 2005.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jacque and Tom Page of Rio Medina; grandchildren, Michael Wood (Christine), Sandra Kadlecek (David), Nathan Fitzpatrick (Tiffany), Jana Urbanczyk (Kevin), and Dr. Kara Whittington (Jacob); fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Darlene Whetstone (Charlie) and several nieces and nephews.

Therese was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jack Fitzpatrick and Roy A. Bendele; son, Thomas Fitzpatrick; brothers, Mat Hitzfelder and Alex Hitzfelder, Jr.; and sisters, Marie Hitzfelder and Myrtle Jungman.

The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Louis Catholic Church. A Bereavement Meal will follow the Mass at the Braden Keller Center. Private Family Interment will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery - Hondo Cemetery.
