Rose Marie Matthews passed away on April 4, 2019 in New Orleans, Louisiana where she resided on the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, with her loving daughter and son-in-law who is in the Navy, and her two beautiful grandchildren with one on the way in May. She formerly resided in Dunlay.

Rose was born in Gray, Maine on December 23, 1950 to Robert Murchie Peterson and Ethel Grace Peterson. She is survived by her daughter, Kristina Grace Matthews and her husband Robert Alvizo; grandchildren, Robert Alvizo, Jr., Layla Marie Alvizo, and soon to be born Aria Rose Alvizo as well as her ex-husband Norman Arthur Matthews; her mother Ethel Grace Peterson; brothers, Joseph Peterson, Donald Peterson, Billy and his wife Becky Peterson and Arthur and his wife Linda Peterson; sister-in-law Bernice Peterson;  3 nieces; 11 nephews and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Murchie Peterson and her brother Robert Howard Peterson.

Rose was a very giving and loving person. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren above all else.

The family will have a private memorial at a later date.
