In Loving Memory of Rose Lee

February 7, 1927 - May 13, 2025

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Rose Lee, who departed this life peacefully at the age of 98, surrounded by loved ones. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she was affectionately known to all simply as "Nana."

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Don Lee, who passed away in 2006. Their love, a foundation for generations, continues to inspire those they left behind. She was also preceded in death by her loving sister, Mildred McElroy, her parents, Ed and Alice Fell, and numerous other cherished family members and dear friends. Their memories always remained close to her heart.

She was the heart of her family — the steady presence, the source of strength, and the embodiment of unconditional love. She was deeply adored by her son, Don Lee, Jr., and his wife, Roxanne, as well as her daughter, Debbie Tharp, and her husband, Tom. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to her four granddaughters: Heather Lee, Crista Kalisky, Brooke DeWinne, and Brittany Malloy. Her heart was also full of love for their husbands, Kyle Kalisky, Dustan DeWinne, and Clint Malloy.

While she cherished each member of her family, it was her great-grandchildren who filled her later years with a special, unmatched joy. Nana often shared that the chance to know and love each of her seven great-grandchildren: Cameron, Reagan, Collins, Dallas, Emersyn, Caroline, and Sterling- was one of the greatest gifts of her life.

She was a warm and welcoming light to everyone who knew her. Her door was always open, her candy drawer always full, and her stories always rich with wit and wisdom. Whether offering heartfelt advice, slipping in a quick-witted remark, or lifting someone up in prayer, Nana had a gift for making everyone feel deeply loved, valued, and seen.

Her unwavering faith in God anchored her spirit, but it was her spunky sense of humor and sharp mind that kept her engaged and "with it" until the very end. Faith was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day as a testimony to God's goodness — even in the face of trials and loss.

Her legacy lives in the laughter of her great-grandchildren, the lessons passed down through generations, and the countless lives she touched with her grace, resilience, and quiet strength.

She was and will always be everyone's Nana.

A celebration of her remarkable life will be held on Tuesday May 27, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, 1016 Lorenzo Street, Castroville, Texas. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will be open for visitation at 9:00 A.M. We invite family and friends to gather to honor her memory and the beautiful impact she made in this world.
