Robert Lee "Bob" Dean, of Castroville, passed away on November 22, 2021 at the age of 72. He was born July 3, 1949 in Silsbee, Texas to Wilbur Lee Dean and Ada Mae Smith Dean.

In 1967, Bob graduated from Kountze High School. His first job as a police officer was in Port Arthur, Texas. He also served at several other departments, including the Northeast ISD gang unit in San Antonio, Texas, Police Chief in Somerset, Texas and Southside ISD in San Antonio. After forty-two years of service, he retired as Lieutenant with the Hondo Police Department in Hondo, Texas.

"Why does the world refuse to stop long enough for me to grieve and heal? The garden demands to be watered, the horses neigh to be fed, the leak in the roof will not fix itself – all heedless of my needs . Because the world's continual turning is a blessing that forces us out of our misery and back to living our purpose. All things will ruin, yet let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."

Survivors include his wife, Miriam Dean of Castroville; children, Ron Dean (Sundae) of Kountze, Texas, Misty Gormley (Robert) of San Antonio, Crystal De La Fuente (Jesse) of San Antonio, Chris Dean (Tish) of Dallas, and Tanya Knox (Zachary) of San Antonio; grandchildren, Patrick Dean, Tyler Gormley, J.D. Cagnoni, Jakob Gormley, David De La Fuente, Matthew Gormley, Zoey Knox, Grayson Dean, Taryn Knox, and Scarlett Dean; great-grandchildren, Camila Hubenthal, and Anakin Gormley.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, James Tucker.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.
