Richard 'Richie'
Damon Keller
Nov 20, 1970 — Apr 20, 2023
Castroville
Richard 'Richie' Damon Keller of Castroville, graced this Earth with his presence on November 20, 1970 in San Antonio, Texas. He was a beautiful baby, and even won a San Antonio baby beauty pageant. From the moment he was born to the moment he took his last breath, he brought joy, happiness, and laughter to everyone he knew. He spread his love of music and great smile to all of Castroville, and if you were at Sammy's after Saturday night mass - he was sure to greet you with exactly what you should order (a dozen nachos, three enchiladas, and a sweet tea).
He attended Medina Valley for 12 years and worked at TexSpice Sheltered Workshop – packing spices, shredding documents, and enjoying his days with his peers. He then retired and spent his next 10 years doing exactly what he loved - going to church, throwing coins in the fountain at Houston Square, and going for walks to Magnolia Filling Station and/or McDonald's.
Richie found great comfort in prayer. Whether it was his daily trips to pray at church or simply saying the 'Our Father' before bed, he was glad to praise the Lord. It was one of his greatest joys in life to be considered one of God's children, and he wore the title with pride until the moment he took his last breath.
Above all else, Richie's favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and caregivers. Every week he spent Tuesday evenings at his sister's house, and every birthday - no matter whose it was - was his opportunity for presents. Not to get the item inside the present - but just to have the joy of opening it.
Richie passed away on April 20, 2023 at the age of 52. He left a mark on this world far greater than he (or his family) could have ever realized. To know Richie was to love him. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Keller of Castroville; sister and brother-in-law, Stefanie and Mark Perkins of Castroville; nephew, Ryan Schulte; and niece, Samantha Schulte; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Richie was preceded in death by his father, Gerry Keller.
