Ramona Cardenas Martinez of Atascosa, passed away on August 17, 2022 at the age of 85. She was born August 31, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas to Apolonio Cardenas and Juanita Guia Cardenas.

Ramona graduated from Lanier High School in San Antonio. On November 25, 1956, Ramona married David Rodriguez Martinez at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church. They were blessed with forty-nine years of marriage and four children.

Ramona worked at Randolph Air Force Base. After getting married, she stayed at home to raise her children. She also helped take care of her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, David C. Martinez, Jr. (Maria) of San Antonio, Leonard C. Martinez (Mary) of Lytle, Melinda Boland (Joe) of La Coste, and Viola Sellers (James) of La Coste; grandchildren, Leonard Martinez, Bianca Boland, Valena Gonzales (Phillip), Sierra Pacheco (Richard), Levi Boland, Andrew Martinez (Samantha), Marissa Barfield (Dylan), David C. Martinez III, Victoria Lopez (Jennifer), and Clarissa Martinez; great-grandchildren, Elijah Rodriguez, Alyanna Pacheco, Avalynn Pacheco, Luke Rodriguez, and Ameliah Pacheco; siblings, Teresa Salas, George Cardenas, Horace Cardenas, Minnie Grimalda, and Sylvia Gomez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David R. Martinez; siblings, Oscar Cardenas, Vicky Luster, Janie Trevino, Mary Torres, and Alicia Hernandez.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Parish Hall in La Coste. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.
