Odilia Mendoza Moreno passed away at her home in La Coste surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the age of 76. She was born on August 16, 1947 in Hondo, one of nine children of Juan Mendoza and Elvira Sanchez Mendoza.

On October 5, 1968, Odilia married Genaro T. Moreno. They were blessed with over fifty-five years of marriage, three children, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Odilia was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and the Guadalupano Society.

Odilia was a wonderful cook.  She cooked not only for her family, but she also was a cook at Naomi's Café in La Coste, Sammy's Restaurant for over twenty-five years, and worked in the cafeteria at every Medina Valley ISD campus (La Coste Elementary, Castroville Elementary, Middle School and High School).

Survivors include her husband, Genaro T. Moreno of La Coste; children, Nadine Saucedo of La Coste, Priscilla Moreno of Castroville and Nathan Moreno of La Coste; grandchildren, Danielle Guajardo (Eddie), Alexander Martinez, Genaro Reina, and Lucille Villarreal; great grandchildren, Chole, Eli and Scarlett; brothers, Monico Mendoza (Sandy), Fred Mendoza (Mickie), Richard Mendoza (Eva), Daniel Mendoza (Terry), and Charlie Mendoza (Rose); sisters, Dora Bermea and Lali Cadena (Raul); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Odilia was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Santos Mendoza.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Services will conclude with a Bereavement Meal at Our Lady of Grace Parish Hall. Interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
