LTC Norman Lester Galyon, (U.S. Army, retired), of Blue Skies of Texas in San Antonio, passed away on April 13, 2021 at the age of 89.  He was born on August 28, 1931 in Commerce, Texas, one of two children born to James and Hester Galyon.

After enlisting in the U.S. Army, and just before leaving for Officer Candidate School, Norman married the love of his life, Billie Lou Sanderford of Arp, Texas on July 4, 1954.

Upon completion of Officer Candidate School, Norman was commissioned as a 2 ^nd Lieutenant.  His many duty stations included Wiesbaden, Germany, Seoul, Korea, Ankara, Turkey, and several posts in Texas and other states.  Norman also served in the Vietnam War from 1967-1968.  He received numerous military honors, culminating with the Legion of Merit upon retirement.

During their sixty-one years of marriage, Norman and Billie were blessed with three children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  Norman was lovingly referred to as "Pop" by his grandkids. He and Billie loved to travel and spend summers in Angel Fire, New Mexico with their grandkids. In addition, Norman loved to fish and golf with his buddies.

Survivors include his daughters, Gini Hainley Galyon (Dwight Hainley) of Denton, Texas and Geri Barnes (Monte) of San Antonio, Texas; his son, Norman Galyon, Jr. (Shelly) of Castroville, Texas; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Billie and his brother, William.

The family will have a private memorial service on Thursday, April 22 ^nd in San Antonio, Texas.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
