Nelis "Butsy" Leo Beck, of Castroville passed away May 17, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born March 13, 1934 in Rio Medina, Texas to Ralph Reinhart Beck and Selma Marie Haby Beck.

In 1952, Butsy graduated from St. Louis High School. On June 6, 1954, Butsy married Jacqueline Ann Hans at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. They were blessed with sixty-nine years of marriage and three sons.

Butsy helped his family with farming and ranching in Rio Medina. For several years, he owned and operated the Smokehouse in Castroville. Butsy also worked as a salesman for American Standard Lighting Company. After his retirement, Butsy worked on the remodeling of St. Louis Catholic Church in 1969.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Beck of Castroville; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Teena Beck of Rio Medina, Paul and Terry Beck of Rio Medina, and Michael and Melinda Beck of Castroville; grandchildren, Brandon Beck (Holly), Nathan Beck (Bethany), Amber Castillo (Jesse), Craig Beck (Sarah), Meredith Ladwig (Lance), Allison Haby (Brandon), Clayton Beck, and Weston Beck; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Braden, Cadence, Ainsley, Kingsley, Coltyn, Chloe, Caylee, Wesley, Emma, Rowan, Amelia, Connor, Easton, Logan, and Dustin; brother and sister-in-law, David and Jo Ann Beck of Castroville; sister, Inell Schuchart of San Antonio; sister-in-law of Joyce Hans of Castroville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Butsy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Elroy Beck (Claudia); and his in-laws, Millard Schuchart, Kenneth Hans (Rosie), Glenn Hans, and Leatrice Bauml (Robert Sr.).

Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
