Obituary

On Sunday, November 6th, 2022, Milton Louis Stolte gained his wings and found peace in the arms of our Lord in Heaven. Milton was born to Milton Henry Stolte and Viola Stolte on August 22, 1940.

Cows die.

Water finds its own level.

I guess we'll know in the morning.

All infamous Grampy-isms.

The life of Milton Stolte can be characterized by love, hard work, integrity, and silly humor. Born and raised on the near west side of San Antonio, before it was actually the city, Daddy learned the benefit of hard work. He assisted his parents on the farm: chores came before schoolwork, but the schoolwork better get done. He modeled the greatest values one could possess. We, his daughters, remember him as being a loving, caring, and strict parent. His grandchildren owned him and only knew the loving and caring part.

Milton wore many hats during his lifetime. He was a husband, a father to two daughters, and a farmer. God bless a farmer. Milton volunteered for any activity or role he could fill. He coached our softball teams, volunteered for the PTA, and was a loud voice at school board meetings, advocating for what he felt was best for the children -- all while working ridiculous hours.

He served his community as President of Texas Farm Bureau, as the agricultural representative on the Edwards Aquifer Authority, as a member of the Region L Board, and as an election poll judge for many years. He was passionate about protecting his family and his farm.  Y'all do know why it took 35 years to get Highway 211 done, right?

Milton was preceded in death by his parents and Ruby Virginia Holder Stolte, his wife of 56 years.

Survivors include his two daughters, Lesley Ann Lane, and husband, Russell Michael Lane, and Joan Marie Stolte. Milton's greatest passion was his love for his five grandchildren: Donovan Lee Greer, Madison Elizabeth Schmit, Kyle Curtis Markos, McCurdy Robert Lane, and Charlotte Avery Lane. You've never seen a prouder grandfather. His babies referred to him as a national treasure. One of them says he was the eighth wonder of the world.

On the Wednesday trip home after his final hospital visit, he told the transport guys thank you for his last ride.

We told him there was one more.

Here's to your final ride, Papa.

Love always,

Your daughters
