Mildred J. 'Mitzie' Mangold Tondre, of La Coste, passed away on July 10, 2023 at the age of 97. She was born April 16, 1926 in La Coste, Texas to the late Robert John Mangold and Margaret Krause Mangold.

Mitzie graduated from La Coste High School in 1943, and worked at the La Coste National Bank. On June 10, 1948, Mitzie married Joseph Aelred 'Allie' Tondre at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste and became a homemaker and loving mother of her five children. She was a member of the St. Ann's Society, Catholic Life, and the Red Hat Society. She co-founded the La Coste Widows Club after her husband passed away in 2003. Mitzie was a faithful mentor, teacher, and servant for Our Lady of Grace Church, the CCD program, La Coste 4-H, and any other need that presented itself.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Claudia and Lee Livingston of Mansfield, John Tondre and Kathie Jordan of San Antonio, Susan and Michial Rau of Castroville, Beth Bourquin of Rio Medina, and Larry and Anne Tondre of Sugar Land; grandchildren, Terri Karafin (Bob), Jeff Livingston (Bo), Scott Livingston (Jessica), Jerrica Mesquita (Filipe), Breanna Henry (Zachary), Janai Blowers (Benjamin), Carli Light (Samuel), Tracy Morgan (Dylan), Megan King (Preston), and Jenna Tondre; nineteen great-grandchildren and one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother and sister-in-law, Sylvan and Virginia Mangold of La Coste.

Mitzie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-four years, Joseph 'Allie' Tondre; son-in-law, Stephen Bourquin; grandson, Ian Rau; great-granddaughter, Emily Karafin; sisters, Rachel Hutzler (Wesley) and Isabel Onion (James); brothers, Michael Mangold, Ivan Mangold (Lillian), and Donald Mangold (Shirley).

Visitation will be Monday, July 17, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. The Holy Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste, Texas.
