Obituary

Michael Dale "Mike" Brawley of Dunlay, passed away on March 30, 2023 in San Antonio at the age of 75. He was born December 12, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas one of three children of Edward Marvin Brawley and Verti Maye Chandler Brawley.

Mike graduated from Tuloso Midway High School and continued his studies at Texas Tech University, earning his bachelor's degree. After his graduation from Texas Tech, he had planned to attend the University of Houston. That was during the time of the Vietnam War, and he was about to be drafted. Instead of waiting to be drafted, he enlisted so he could choose the branch of service he wanted.  Mike chose to enlist as an officer in the U. S. Navy and proudly served his country. After his tour of duty, he began his career as a teacher and coach at Tuloso Midway. This ultimately led to his career in school textbook sales. When he retired, he was the regional vice president of sales at Holt McDougal.

Mike was a founding member of Medina Valley Sports Booster Club, past president and member of Medina Valley Youth Baseball Association. He was the PA announcer for the Medina Valley football games for approximately ten years during the late 80's and 90's. He loved watching his sons play football, his Texas Tech Red Raiders and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of seven years, Debra Brawley of Dunlay; his children and their spouses, Jeffery and Tanya Stivors of Dunlay, Michael and Kimberly Brawley of Castroville, Curtis and Kari Brawley of La Grange, and Amira J. Van Leeuwen of San Marcos; grandchildren, Tristan Stivors, Kyrstan Stivors, Anistan Stivors, Cassidy Brawley, Clayton Brawley, Kylin Brawley, and Kyndal Brawley and also his faithful companion, Gin.
