Michael Preston
Boggs
Oct 25, 1960 — May 29, 2020
Poteet
Jesus greeted Michael P. "Mike" Boggs with open arms on Friday morning, May 29, 2020 at 59 years of age. His loving family surrounded him as he made the transition from this world to the glory of the next. He was born October 25, 1960 in San Antonio to William Preston Boggs and Barbara Ann Boggs. Mike was a loving, hard-working, talented, funny and devoted Christian man. He loved everyone and said he saw Jesus in all. Mike had a soft manner as he spread the word to those around him – never being pushy as he shared and taught the saving grace that was bestowed on him after many years of battling his own demons and addictions. He said the best blessings at every family gathering.
Mike was a great Willie Nelson impersonator and enjoyed singing whenever he had a chance. He performed professionally with other impersonators at venues such as Six Flags and other local events.
He met his wife Katie at a "bike night" right after he bought his first bike, and the riding stories began. He told all his friends it was love at first sight when he saw that she rode a bigger bike than he did. They had motorcycles on their wedding cake and rode off together after the wedding ceremony. Katie took him all over the state of Texas on many adventures with the Southern Cruisers Riding Club Chapter 16. They took four cruises together and set off on many adventures. Snorkeling in the Caribbean was one of Mike's highlights. Finding shells, swimming with brightly colored fish and stingrays and finally with a shark on the last adventure.
After adopting their first dog together, Mike and Katie got involved in rescue, and Katie started her own rescue effort, Katie's Roadside Rescue. Mike was supportive and helped with the chaos. When Katie wanted to move to the country to have more space for the animals, Mike did not disappoint. He designed and built their retirement home near Poteet, a storage shed, pole barns, horse barn, indoor/outdoor kennels, and never ending fencing. Not because he wanted it all, because he wanted to make his wife's dream come true. His loving legacy lives on at the rescue and forever will.
Mike has two sons, five beautiful grandchildren and three wonderful step-grandchildren. They put the twinkle in PopPops eye, and he cherished every minute spent with them. He was so proud of all of them.
Mike is survived by his wife, Katie Boggs of Poteet; mother, Barbara Walton (Tom) of Lakehills; sons, David Boggs (Nicole) and Daniel Boggs (Valerie); sister, Cindy Valenzuela (Cesar); niece, Gina Perez (Mike); nephew, Rene Valenzuela; eight grandchildren and numerous dogs. He was greeted by many at the Rainbow Bridge with wagging tails and kisses. He was preceded in death by his father.
The family would like thank Thad Ziegler Glass for their support and love.
Pancreatic Cancer is not curable. It ravaged his body and mind. It is not fair what it did to him, to his family, to all who love him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to pancan.org to find a cure or to Katie's Roadside Rescue at www.krrtx.org that he helped build, or to any charity of your choice.
