Mary Margaret Schott Nelson, of Castroville, passed away in San Antonio on November 15, 2020 at the age of 67 years. She was born June 2, 1953 in Hondo, Texas, one of four daughters born to Calvin Paul Schott and Virginia Irene Wrasse Schott.

In 1971, Mary graduated from Medina Valley High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, she married Daniel Wayne Nelson on June 12, 1971 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mary and Danny celebrated their forty-ninth wedding anniversary this past June.

Mary worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for twenty-eight years. In 2006, she retired from TxDOT as the San Antonio District Chief Accountant.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Nelson; daughters, Melissa Jordan (Barry) and Wendy Persyn (Kevin); grandchildren, Hannah Persyn, Savannah Persyn, Kaylee Jordan, Kammeron Jordan, Kaden Jordan and Kyler Jordan; sisters, Colleen Brieden, Beverly Kempf (Leo) and Wanda Bohmfalk (Ron).

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Virginia Schott; brother-in-law, Billy Brieden; father-in-law, Eugene Nelson and mother-in-law, Syvilla Schneider.

Public Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
