Obituary

Mary Louise Lutz was called home to our Lord on September 16, 2020. Born August 25, 1933, Mary was the only child of Paul Oscar Bendele and Marie Theresa Koch Bendele. She grew up on the family ranch in Biry, Texas and graduated from St. Louis Catholic School in Castroville. She met the love of her life, Elton Lutz, on a blind date. Married on April 15, 1952, they were blessed with sixty-eight wonderful years together. Five children were born from this union.

Mary Louise dedicated her life as a homemaker to her family. She was an avid cook and seamstress. Many of her grandchildren and their friends got to enjoy her home-cooked meals during the school days. Later, after her children were grown, Mary became a cook at Meyer Elementary School for eleven years. She loved to be around children and serve them.

Annual family vacations were a must. From camping to traveling the United States, a year was not missed that they did not plan a journey for the family. Along with these outings, memories made at the family ranch and the family lake place were always a joy to her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Wesley T Beck Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Elton, and five children, Linda Fillinger, Nancy Beck, Gail (Joe) Harris, Betty (Frank) Menard, and James (Laurie) Lutz; twelve grandchildren, Ryan (Bonnie) Fillinger, Nathan (Lindsay) Fillinger, Michael (Kimberly) Beck, Todd (Catherine) Beck, Charles (Jennifer) Harris, Michael (Erin) Harris, Adam (Krista) Harris, Gracen (Russell) Hawley, Justin (Lauren) Housman, Vance (Katey) Menard, Ethan (Courtney) Lutz, and Cassandra (Colin) Heffner; twenty great-grandchildren, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and extended family.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (There will be no immediate family present for this visitation). The Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hondo.
