Obituary

Martha Jean "Jeanie" Krenmueller entered eternal rest on March 28, 2024, at the age of 65 after a brief battle with cancer. If you could choose a day to die, she chose one of the most significant days in time, Holy Thursday! Jean was born on September 15, 1958, in Hondo, Texas, to Virgil John Krenmueller and Joyce Elizabeth Wurzbach Krenmueller.

Jean was the second born child. At three months old, she had an extremely high fever, secondary to pneumonia, that led to a permanent disability. Despite this, Jean graduated from Hondo High School in 1977. She worked diligently at the school cafeteria and as a graduation trip, she purchased airline tickets for the family to travel to Seattle, Washington to visit her uncle, CJ Krenmueller. Jean was thoughtful and generous at a young age!

Jean was a life-long member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hondo. She enjoyed crocheting, and as a part of her church service, and she crocheted afghans for children which were sent with missionaries to Nicaragua. Other hobbies included painting and coloring; watching movies with her favorite genres being cartoons and horror movies; and feeding and caring for family pets and wild birds. She also enjoyed swimming and for years participated in swimming events in the Special Olympics in Austin.

At age 20, Jean moved to Austin and lived in assisted living for 44 years. During that time, she worked for 30 years at Seton Hospital and later at the Mary Lee Foundation Event Center. In those Austin years she met her life-long companion, David Howell. Jean and David frequently went to events together, traveled around Austin, and spent much of their free time watching movies and playing games.

Jean recently moved to San Antonio and resided at The June to be closer to her mother in Hondo. She made numerous friends along the way, both in Austin and San Antonio.

Survivors include her mother, Joyce Krenmueller; sister, Deborah Moritz; brother, Daryl (Cynthia); nephews, Zachary (Taylor) and Dylan, Erik (Tracy and son Ethan), and Sean (Olivia); aunts, Sue Stiles and Sharon Coleman.

Preceding Jean in death are her father, Virgil Krenmueller; grandparents, John H. and Lela Neumann Krenmueller and Walter Wurzbach and Irene Stiles; uncles, CJ Krenmueller and Wayne Stiles; and aunt, Linda Searson.
