Obituary

Marian Francis Ehlinger Tschirhart passed away peacefully in her home of 50+ years on August 26, 2021 at the age of 86. She was born on May 11, 1935 in Devine, Texas to Willie and Theresa Ehlinger.

She married her sweetheart Alex Joseph Tschirhart on February 23, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Devine. They enjoyed sixty-four years together filled with so much love.

Marian was loved throughout the Castroville community where she was very involved. She worked for Southwestern Bell for five years and then retired from Medina Valley ISD after twenty-nine years. During retirement, you could find her and Alex working the Medina County Elections. She also spent dozens of Saturdays working as the St. Louis Catholic Church Wedding Coordinator where she helped with 300+ weddings over the years. Alex and she were very involved in the American Legion Post 460 in Castroville. She was also an active member of the St. Ann's Altar Society and the Adult Choir. She loved her church community and had a powerful devotion to The Rosary, praying it almost every night.

Marian loved to visit with anyone and truly knew no stranger. She especially enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family. She loved them immensely and was so proud of them. She cherished having so many of them living near her and Alex on the family land. Her evenings often included playing pitch, talking, and telling stories, sitting on the swing and watching the cows. She loved having visitors in town and traveling to see others especially their good friends, John and Dee Bert. The four of them could spend hours and hours chatting and drinking wine together, always time well spent for Marian.

You could always find her in the bleachers with Alex, supporting the boys and then their grandchildren at many of their different ball games and activities. She took great pride in her grandchildren for many things, but most importantly the people they became. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her life with so much joy.

Marian loved all of her precious memories, most of all the ones made with her husband, Alex. You could often find them swinging about the dance floor together at parties, out until the last song. They were the life of the party, and their love was special. They built a life that they loved together.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Alex Tschirhart; sons, Terry (Janet) Tschirhart, Jeffrey (Patti) Tschirhart, Anthony (Angela) Tschirhart, and Scott (Teresa) Tschirhart; grandchildren, Ben (Amy) Tschirhart, Tyler Tschirhart (fiancée, Suzanne Zink), Alyxandra (Elliott) Hackebeil, Sydney (Josh) Guarnero, Maycee (Bolton) Russell, Taylor and Sabrina Tschirhart, Kymberlyn Tschirhart (fiancé, Zachary Patty), Kristin (Chris) Glover, and Clay (Amber) Ostrom; great-grandchildren, Emma and Kade Tschirhart, Audrey and Whitney Guarnero, Margot Hackebeil, Walton Russell, Abby and Ella Odle, Hudson Glover, and Katelyn and Talyn Ostrom; brothers, Louis Ehlinger, Marvin Ehlinger, Melvin (Frances) Ehlinger; sisters, Alda Rose (Walter) McAllister; sisters-in-law, Helen Ehlinger, June Ehlinger, and Melrose Bendele.
