Maria L. Botello Mascorro, of Castroville passed away December 22, 2024 at the age of 82. She was born September 5, 1942 in Castroville, Texas to Anastacio Botello and Ysidra Lopez Botello.

On April 9, 1960, Maria married Julian H. Mascorro, Sr. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. They were blessed with close to sixty-one years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2021. Maria was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a past president of the St. Louis Catholic Church Guadalupanas.

Survivors include her children, Raul Mascorro (Heather) of San Antonio, Melinda Howard (Doc) of Belvue, Kansas, Julian Mascorro, Jr. of Castroville, JoAnn Mercado (Felix) of San Antonio, Delia Walter (Joe) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Angela Marie Rodriguez of Castroville, and Angelica Sauceda (Michael) of Castroville; son-in-law, Javier S. Velasquez of Hondo; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ramiro Almaguer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julian H. Mascorro, Sr.; daughter, Monica Velasquez; son-in-law, Juan Manuel De Leon; grandsons, Jason Tacktor and Justin Velasquez; siblings, Elida Aguilera, Servando Almaguer, Ramon Botello, Benino Botello, Pablo Botello, Adolpho Botello, Eulogio Botello, and Gabriel Botello.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
