Magdeleno John
Garza
May 29, 1943 — Sep 30, 2021
Castroville
Magdeleno John Garza, of Castroville, passed away in Castroville on September 30, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born May 29, 1943 in Castroville, Texas to Pablo Lascano Garza and Angelita Pedroza Garza.
A graduate of Medina Valley HS, Magdeleno joined the United States Army on September 13, 1962. He was an automobile parts salesman at Parts Plus and Callahan Auto Parts.
He was a kind, loving, and devout Christian man who enjoyed the outdoors, travel, and sports. His biggest accomplishment was being a father. He had always wanted children and considered himself a blessed man to have four. His children considered their dad their superhero, and still see him that way, even as adults. He was always there for people throughout the family to help through their ups and downs and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer.
Magdeleno had a big heart for many things in life, including his canine companion of fifteen years, Sally, who preceded him a few days before he went home to be with the Lord. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his short illness with strength, grace, courage, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. In his final days, he was surrounded by numerous family members, his children, and eight grandchildren, who he adored more than anything else in the world.
Survivors include his children, Philip Garza of Houston, Miranda Garza Wells (Robert) of Vallejo, California, Eddie Garza (Michelle) of Castroville, and Paul Garza (Josie) of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jonathan Garza (Juliette), Zachary Garza, Josiah Garza, Henry Wells, Sarah Garza, Abigail Garza, Elizabeth Garza, and Mateo Garza; sister, Lupe Ruiz of Castroville; brother, Thomas Garza (Nettie) of Castroville.
Magdeleno was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Angelita Garza; his sister, Herlinda Garza; and his brothers, Jose Garza and Pablo Garza, Jr.; brother-in-law, Ray Ruiz.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville.
Memorials may be made in Magdeleno's memory to the charity of your choice.
