Lindsey Kay
Gohmert Keeton
Dec 27, 1991 — Aug 15, 2024
Castroville
Lindsey Kay Gohmert Keeton, of Castroville passed away peacefully August 15, 2024, at the age of 32. She was born December 27, 1991, in Galveston, Texas to George T. Gohmert and Deborah "Debbie" Denise Leifeste Gohmert.
In 2010, Lindsey graduated from Medina Valley High School. Lindsey was active in FFA and served as the first female President of the Medina Valley FFA Chapter. She showed pigs for nine years and excelled at barrel racing throughout her teens where she won many awards with both.
After high school, she attended Texas State University and Sam Houston State University. She worked at Community National Bank and most recently at Security State Bank as an administrative assistant. There, Lindsey never met a stranger and loved helping her customers.
On October 18, 2014, Lindsey married the love of her life and soul mate, Jake Dylan Keeton at the Quihi Gun Club in Quihi, Texas. Lindsey and Jake were blessed with almost ten years of marriage and two beautiful children.
Lindsey was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in October 2023 and within days of her diagnosis gave birth to her son. From the beginning she felt it was her mission to help others that might be fighting the same battle, and she befriended many other cancer patients. She fought valiantly, fearlessly and without bitterness for 10 months until she lost her battle on August 15, 2024. She was loved and supported throughout her journey by the entire Castroville area community and from afar.
Her passion was being a mother to sweet Jamesyn and Kyle and wife to Jake. She cherished every moment of life with them she could and never lived with regrets. Her children will continue to carry her legacy of love, faith and kindness.
Lindsey was an exceptional chef and loved to try new recipes and create her own. It was an honor for her to whip up a batch of cupcakes or another delicacy and share with her family and/or banking family. She was also a crime junkie and loved a good murder mystery.
Her faith in God was unwavering, and she lived her life as a testament to His love and grace knowing with certainty that her heavenly home awaited her.
Survivors include her husband, Jake Keeton of Castroville; children, Jamesyn Keeton and Kyle Keeton; parents, George T. Gohmert of La Coste and Debbie Gohmert of Castroville; sister, Leah Herring (Layton) of Natalia; parents-in-law, Mark and Sherry Keeton of San Antonio; brother-in-law, Zach Keeton (Clowie) of San Antonio; nieces and nephews, Kendall and Taylon Herring and Jacob and Zowie Keeton.
Lindsey was preceded in death by her grandparents, Preston and Betty Gohmert, James and Lois Leifeste; grandparents-in-law, Jim and Minda Welch and Emmett and Minnie Hooker.
We celebrate that Lindsey is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and once again whole and pain free. Her only wish throughout her battle was to be "normal" again. She got that wish when she entered Heaven's gate with family and friends lovingly surrounding her.
The family would like to thank Security State Bank, her medical team and the entire Castroville and surrounding area family and friends for their prayers, support and love. It meant the world to her that she was loved by so many.
Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life and Eulogy at 5:30 p.m. Lindsey's Celebration of Life will continue with a gathering at Schattenbol, 2374 US Hwy 90 East, Castroville, Texas.
