Obituary

Kenneth Roland Kossaeth, of D'Hanis, passed away on Monday August 5th at home, surrounded by his family. He was 81. He was born on July 9, 1943 to Willie E. and Rosa Weidner Kossaeth of San Antonio.

He graduated from John Marshall High School. He served in the Army National Reserve for 6 years. He worked as a journeyman electrician for over 40 years in San Antonio. The last 20 years, he worked at the main campus at UTSA as an electrician. He was also a lifelong farmer.

On May 14, 1966, he married Hermina M. Hitzfelder. They were married for over 47 years at the time of her death in 2013. After he retired, they were able to travel around the world.

His passion was to grow things: whether it was the crops that he planted and raised, his animals or his vegetable garden. He was always willing to share the extra vegetables with family and friends. He was also willing to lend a hand to help those in need. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Lately, he could be found driving the tractor around the field or walking along the road or field near his house.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Hermina Kossaeth, and son, Keith Charles Kossaeth.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynette Sumner (John) of Adkins and Tammy Kossaeth of D'hanis; daughter-in-law, Mary Kossaeth of San Antonio; grandsons, Craig Sumner of Floresville, Jason Sumner (CJ) of La Vernia, and Kevin Kossaeth of San Antonio.

The family would like to thank Alamo City Hospice for all their help during this difficult time. We would also like to thank his caregivers: Terry, Belia, Olga and Victoria who helped make it possible to bring him home.

Pallbearers are Craig Sumner, Jason Sumner, Kevin Kossaeth, Timothy Schneider, George Weimer, and Troy Langfeld.
