John Edward
Gooding
Mar 2, 1971 — Feb 2, 2021
Hondo
John Edward Gooding, of Hondo, passed away on February 2, 2021 at the age of 49. He was born March 2, 1971 in Hondo, Texas to George Irvin Gooding and Diane Browning Gooding.
Survivors include his mother, Diane Gooding Fairchild (Lewis); daughter, Desiree Gooding Harman; grandson, William Harman; sister, Angie Dolgener (James 'Rodney'); nephew, Hunter Dolgener; niece, Skyler Dolgener; grandmother, Helen 'Elaine' Browning.
John was preceded in death by his father, George Irvin Gooding; grandparents, Glenn B. Gooding, Elleen Mumme Gooding and Robert Edward Browning.
John was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys football fan. In fact, watching football was his passion and nothing could be planned on those days, especially when the Cowboys were playing. In fact, no-one was to call him during a Cowboys game. He would be absolutely elated to see that Drew Pearson and Charles Woodson are being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame for 2021!
John also loved to country western dance and was a very good dancer. He always looked forward to meeting his regular dance partners at Cowboys Dance Hall.
From the time John was in his early 20's he was involved in law enforcement. He didn't carry a badge, but he was very close to many on the Hondo Police and Medina County Sheriff's Dept. and Constables Office. Because John was around so much, he was like the unofficial mascot. John was a regular companion to Officer Don Berger for 7 1/2 of the 8 years Don served as Constable of Medina County Precinct 1. He loved riding with Don and helping him out when he could.
John was a good man who loved his county. He was funny, witty and sarcastic and could be very stubborn at times. He was a great, loyal friend. He was a very good listener, a shoulder to lean on and would do anything for anybody if they needed help, especially his friends and family. He loved his family and was a proud son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. He wanted to be the best uncle ever, and he definitely was!
Public Visitation will be Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. John's family will hold a private interment at a later date.
