JoAnn Gay Boully of San Antonio, Texas passed away on October 14, 2021. She was 48 years old. Born in Thailand on January 17, 1973, JoAnn grew up in the Valley-Hi neighborhood of San Antonio.

She attended South San Antonio West Campus High School, where she was active in journalism, tennis, speech and debate, and was Prom Princess. It was during high school that she began working at H-E-B on Marbach in the Chinese Kitchen. Her career with H-E-B spanned over thirty years. She started working at the Chinese Kitchen and worked her way up to Central Market Manager at the Valley-Hi H-E-B.

JoAnn arrived in the United States shortly after her fourth birthday. Her childhood was spent fishing, camping, and gardening. She grew to love art, writing, films, and cooking. Throughout her life, she retained her childhood sense of magic and wonder. She was a thoughtful, generous, humorous, popular, and engaging person who loved to delight others and make others feel special. She always put others before herself and brought life and love into their lives, always with a laugh and a smile.

She is survived by her father, Frank J. Boully; her mother, Jak Boully; her younger sisters, Jenny Boully and Catherine Boully; her niece, Penelope Jehle; her nephew, Augustine Jehle; and her life partner, Troy Valdez.

Visitation for JoAnn will take place at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home at 1016 Lorenzo Street in Castroville, Texas on Wednesday, October 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also on Thursday, October 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the reading of her Eulogy both days at 6:00 p.m.
