Jimmie 'Jim' Eugene Warnke of La Coste, passed away on February 21, 2023 at the age of 96. He was born August 29, 1926 in Sublette, Kansas, one of three children of Oscar Warnke and Clara Dunker Warnke.

Jim joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged on June 21, 1946. On September 29, 1950, Jim married Sandra Kay Gustafson in San Antonio. They were blessed with over sixty-three years of marriage at the time of Sandra's passing on July 19, 2014.

Jim was a South Texas rancher since 1950.  He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Angus Association, and Hermann Sons Siemering Lodge.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Cindie Saathoff of Quihi, Carl and Paula Warnke of Bulverde, and Sherri and Rodger Welch of Quihi; grandchildren, Brian Saathoff (Nicole), Travers Warnke (Marcie), Casie Warnke, Jay Warnke (Diana), Jim Cody Welch (Allison), and Kimber Robinson (Jeff); and great-grandchildren, Slade Saathoff, Miles Saathoff, Taytum Welch, Tessa Welch, Jack Warnke, Eli Warnke, Lily Warnke, June Warnke, and Sienna Robinson.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Kay Warnke; his son-in-law, Bruce Saathoff; his brother, Donald Warnke; and his sister and brother-in-law, Lahoma and Glynn McDaniel.

A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1106 Fiorella Street, Castroville, Texas. Services will conclude with a reception at the church.
