Jesse Garza Cruz of Castroville, passed away on November 13, 2022, in San Antonio at the age of 82. He was born July 9, 1940, in San Antonio, Texas to Jesse H. Cruz and Hortencia Garza Cruz.

On May 19, 1962, Jesse married Katarina Martinez in San Antonio. They were blessed with sixty years of marriage. three daughters and three grandchildren.

Jesse received his GED from John Jay High School in San Antonio. He then received his welding certificate from his work with Triple S Welding Company and Southwest Research. Jesse was a talented musician and played bass guitar for several conjunto bands.

Survivors include his wife, Katarina Cruz of Castroville; daughters and son-in-law, Natalie Ann Smart of San Antonio, Teresa and Hilario Torres, Jr. of San Antonio, and Jeanette Cruz of Castroville; grandchildren, Justin Young (Kimberly), Hilario Torres III, and Aubrie Cruz; brother, Frank Cruz.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Mary Cruz.

Visitation will be Friday, November 18, 2022, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with Memory Sharing at 5:00 p.m. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
