A lifelong Medina County rancher and retired Bexar County teacher, Jerry Alan Martin,of Hondo, passed away on January 31, 2022 in a San Antonio hospital, at the age of 64. He was born November 17, 1957 in Castroville, Texas to Clinton Andreas Martin and Lillian Louise Lindeburg Martin.

In 1976, Jerry graduated from Medina Valley High School and continued his education at Southwest Texas State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts. Jerry was an Industrial Tech teacher, teaching and sharing his skills at Judson ISD for twenty years, and for over ten years at Northside ISD.

On October 16, 1999, Jerry married Jeanne Elaine Showers at a ceremony on his beloved Martin Ranch. Together they shared twenty-two years of marriage and memories.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Martin of Hondo; children, Dean (Carol) Moyer of Richfield, Pennsylvania, Dustin (Carrie) Moyer of Tucson, Arizona, and Lauren Martin of New York City, New York; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Nelson (Paulette) Martin of Hondo; his sister, Ronda McNew of Hondo; in-laws, Jerry Showers (Carol), Donna Messerman (David), Dorrie Courogen (Chris) and Ralph Showers, Jr. (Eva) all of Pennsylvania;  as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Lillian Martin; parents-in-law, Erma and Ralph Showers; and his brother-in-law, Carl Dean McNew.

A Celebration of Jerry's Life will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 11 am to 2 pm at the New Fountain United Methodist Church - Fountain of Life Center in New Fountain, 2980 FM 2676, Hondo, TX 78861.

Memorials may be made in Jerry's memory to Lymphoma and Myeloma Foundation or the charity of your choice.
