James Mora Medrano Sr., born on February 3, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on March 17, 2023, at the age of 77.

James enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and proudly served his time as Radio Operator in Germany. He would often reminisce and share stories from his childhood and youth, always including the lessons he learned, along with the triumphs he overcame along the way.

James was a hard worker and provider for his family. His love for cooking and BBQing always brought his family together. After retirement, James found the simple pleasures of life most fulfilling: including hunting and fishing with his sons, grandsons, nephews, and friends, as well as tending to his plants and home projects.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan & Dominga Medrano; brothers, Johnny and Raul; and sisters, Gloria and Esther.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Gracie C. Medrano; and their children, Mike, James JR (Hortencia), Jeremy (Toni), and Melissa (Mark); his ten grandchildren, Anthony, Jocylyn, Angelique, Dominick, Jeremiah, Damien, Noah, Mila, Adam, and Alex.

He is also survived by his brother, Adan; and his sisters, Nieves, Mary, and Fina; and countless nieces and nephews, extended family, and numerous friends.

James will always be remembered for his quick and witty sense of humor, his strong-willed personality, and for sharing his wisdom in all things.

IN OUR HEARTS

We thought of you today, that is nothing new.

We thought of you yesterday, and the days before that too.

We often speak your name, but we also think of you in silence.

Now all we have are memories, and your picture in a frame

Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part

God has you in his keeping and we will forever have you in our hearts.
