James Leslie Harper, of Castroville, passed away on October 9, 2021 at the age of 89. He was born December 29, 1931 in Gentry, Arkansas to Joe Lester Harper and Ora Billie Beck Harper.

Survivors include his children, Joni Brieden (Harold) of Castroville; Ronald Holland (Melissa) of Dallas, Douglas Holland (Teresa) of High Ridge, Missouri, Mark Holland of Lufkin, and Terry Harper of Arkansas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Jo Ann Stokes, Pat Freking, Beverly Nunez, Kay Yoshimoto, and Dickie Harper.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ora Harper; and his wife, Ruth Harper; daughter, Rhonda Harper; siblings, Todd Harper, Terry Lee Harper, and Janie Groomer.

Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Section of the Hondo Cemetery, 170 County Road 443, Hondo, TX 78861 with a Graveside Service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
