Jacqueline Haby
Weber
Apr 21, 1927 — Nov 21, 2020
San Antonio
Jacqueline Haby Weber, of San Antonio, passed away on November 21, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born April 21, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas to Raymond P. Haby and Catherine Semlinger Haby.
Jacqueline married the love of her life, Joe Russell Weber, on May 24, 1952, at St. Gerard Catholic Church in San Antonio. They were married for fifty-five years. Jacqueline and Joe had five children, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Jacqueline had many hobbies, but her favorite was writing checks. She loved being around people and it was the best form of medicine for her. She was always a socialite, when there are people, there is fun to be had.
In addition to her many endeavors as a wife, mother, home maker, and seamstress. Jackie sold Mary Kay cosmetics, bought and sold antiques. Jacqueline was a long-time member of the St. Ann's Society, joining in 1980. She was active president, vice president, reporter and chairman of the 150 th Celebration. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Alsatian Pioneers Chapter.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her mother, Katie Semling Haby in 1932, when she was 5 years old; then her brother, Clyde Haby in 1935, when she was 8 years old; then her father, Raymond Peter Haby in 1956, when she was 29 years old; her half-sister, Jolene Haby and then her husband, J.R. Weber in November 2007.
Memories of Jacqueline's childhood may have been tragic, but she had a large loving extended family. She was blessed with a giving, loving, friendly and large family. Taking her in and treating her as their own. Born before the days of Social Services, she spoke of visiting and staying with all of her relatives. Playing with all of her cousins, sometimes a different family each week. She was raised primarily by her grandmother, Emma Martha Streich Semlinger in San Antonio, and was often in Castroville and Rio Medina visiting family. Everyone considered her more than a cousin, but another sister. She said it always felt like a holiday with each visit. No one had to work when I came around. It was all about play and good food everywhere.
To this day, her family and friends offered so much help in keeping her company and befriending her, especially her dearest friend, Dorothy Boehme, Cathleen Haby and Maxine Haby before her resent death. Everyone made her feel welcome. I want to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to all of you for being such a gift.
Also, a special "Thank You" to her physician, Dr. Huberto Garza and nurse Bobbie for the long sincere health care she received during her battle with Cancer; her caregivers, Rachel and Julie, for being her constant companions and driving her everywhere. This COVID pandemic, she was not afraid of in the least. She told everyone that if you lived through World War II, you would know what scared was. This virus is nothing compared to that.
Her favorite sayings were, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph" and "…but, we had fun! (That meant, we could get away with anything as longas we were having fun!)
Survivors include her children, Catherine Lydia Payne, Ben Anthony Weber, Romell Emma Henze (Harold), David Russell Weber, Karie Marie Hazen (Jeff); grandchildren, Reagan Payne, Ryan Payne, Kristen Weber, Amanda Blazik, Lauren Carson, Paul Austin Phillips, Jessica Romell Phares, Heather Weber, Casey Hazen, Christopher Hazen, Karly Hazen; fourteen great-grandchildren.
