Herbert Otto Brinkley, of Castroville passed away August 14, 2024 at the age of 72. He was born August 20, 1951 in Kilgore, Texas to Fred Douglas Brinkley, Sr. and Mamie Lee Roberts Brinkley.

Herbert graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas. While in high school, Herbert met his future wife, Marcia Ann Johnson. On September 11, 1971, Herbert married his high school sweetheart, Marcia, in Dallas, Texas. They were blessed with fifty-six years together at the time of her passing in 2023.

In 1969, Herbert joined the United States Marine Corp. After his service in the military, he worked as a lineman for Texas Electric Utilities and Encore Electric for twenty-five years before retiring. He later did electrical contracting.

Survivors include his daughter, LaShaon Thompson (Oneil) of Castroville; son, Frank Brinkley (Rhiannon) of Burleson; ten grandchildren, Latoya (Kevin), Kiara (Robert), Sharda (LeGerld), Dimeshia (Roc), Mikeal, Debrodrick, Kahlen, Britney, Jerry, and Damarcus; twenty great-grandchildren, Azariah, Tyler, Carmi, Lamiya, Mercy, Keziah, Tristian, Cory, Hazel, Immanuel, Sir Kevin, Xena, Kaaliyah, Keveyon, Breanna, Nathaniel, Serenity, Sincere, Saivon, and Demayra; niece that he raised as his child, Adrian Brinkley; siblings, ­­­­Randy Brinkley, Wayne Brinkley, Anthony Brinkley (Patricia), Charlotte Peters, and Kim Brinkley.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcia Brinkley; son, Quinton Brinkley; and niece that he raised as his child, Dometria Runnels.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
