Obituary

Gregory Alan Biediger of the Rio Medina, Texas, area passed away at home on January 30 at the age of 65. Greg was born in San Antonio on June 2, 1959, to Donald and Rosalie Biediger and was joined within the next four years by brothers Jeffrey and Ronald and sister Donna. In his early youth he played baseball and was a Cub Scout. Leaving San Antonio to return to their country roots, the family relocated to Mico, entering the Medina Valley school system and joining the St. Louis Catholic Church community in Castroville. Greg graduated from Medina Valley High School in 1978 where he particularly enjoyed math and German classes and the camaraderie of his fellow football players. And he never lost a game of Trivial Pursuit.

While pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, Gregory spent his summers and breaks as an intern at the Texas Department of Transportation San Antonio District Headquarters. Upon graduation in May 1982, he immediately began a 36-year career with TxDOT as an Engineer in Training at Hondo. One of his first jobs was construction inspection of the bridge spanning the Medina River at Rio Medina. In subsequent years, he worked in bridge and major highway design, serving as Project Engineer for the Loop 1604 project near Fiesta Texas which included 9 bridges, 5 large culverts and extensive storm drain systems incorporating the most extensive utilization of corrugated polyethylene pipe on a highway project at that time. He left his Area Construction Engineer position at the Bexar Metro Area Office in March 1998 to return to Hondo as the Assistant Area Engineer and retired as Transportation Engineer V in August 2018.

After six months of leisure, Gregory returned to the work force in February 2019 for Jacobs Engineering as Project Engineer on TxDOT's IH 10 in Boerne Project and beginning in February 2024 on TxDOT's SH 36 Project in Brazoria County. He was employed by Jacobs Engineering at the time of his death.

Greg married Twissia McGlamory on January 30, 2017, in San Antonio and continued to live in the country, a lifetime avid deer hunter.

He was preceded in death by his father, his brother Jeffrey Biediger and his sister Donna Schorr.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; his brother Ronald Biediger (Christine) of Houston TX; stepsons, Bryan A. Johnson, Marcus J. Johnson, and Robert J. Johnson; nephew, Michael Biediger of Duck Hill, Mississippi; niece Stephanie Gloor (Chris) of Houston; nephew Nicholas Schorr (Emily) of Hondo; niece Cassandra Schorr of San Antonio; and extended family and friends.
