George Frederick Garza, Jr., of Hondo, passed away on April 23, 2022 at the age of 71. He was born May 6, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to George Frederick Garza, Sr. and Diane Christine Martinez.

In 1968, George graduated from Antonian College Preparatory High School. Before attending the University of North Texas, George served in the United States Air Force. He was a news reporter and camera operator for KFDM Channel 6 News in Beaumont, Texas. He also worked as a newspaper reporter and photographer for the Vidorian Newspaper Vidor, Texas where he retired in 2020.

Survivors include his mother, Diane Perreault of Castroville; sisters, Deborah Garza of Dallas, Denise Cutrer of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Cynthia Taylor (James) of Grand Prairie; stepmother, Helen Garza of San Antonio; two nieces and one nephew.

George was preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
