Freeda West McBroom, of Castroville, passed away on August 17, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born October 24, 1929 in Sudan, Texas to the late Everett P. West and Callie E. Gillet West.

Freeda graduated from Sudan High School. On January 2, 1949, she married Louie Ray McBroom. They were blessed with seventy-two years of marriage and one son.

Freeda started her career in banking working at the Sudan National Bank after graduation from High School. After she married Louie, she continued her banking career and retired as a Vice President with Broadway National Bank in San Antonio. Freeda and Louie loved to travel.

Survivors include her husband, Louie R. McBroom of Castroville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Freeda was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kenneth Paul McBroom; four brothers; and two sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas.
