Obituary

Fernando Quinones Medrano, Sr. of San Antonio, passed away on September 8, 2021 at the age of 60. He was born August 18, 1961 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico to Roberto Medrano-Jaramillo and Esther Quinones Medrano.

Fernando attended Edison High School. He worked as a chef at the hotel in Castroville, and on the dinner train that ran in between San Antonio and Del Rio during the 90's. He was also a chef at several area restaurants before eventually opening his own restaurant, Fernando's Restaurant, in Castroville. Barbeque brisket and his macaroni salad were among his customers favorites. He often catered meals for special events, including bereavement meals at area churches.

Fernando was a big sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the San Antonio Spurs, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns. He would often sit down with his customers to watch a game on TV at his restaurant.

He was a kind and generous man, always willing to help people in any way he could. He loved God, his family and his many friends and customers. He will be deeply missed by all.

Survivors include his children, Armando Reyes (Jessica), Daisy Medrano (Alex Jaramillo), and Fernando R. Medrano, Jr. all of San Antonio; grandchildren, Austin Reyes, Hunter Reyes, Jordan Daniel Medrano, and Jaxson Reyes; brothers, Esteban Medrano, Viviano Medrano; sisters, Ana Maria Isabel Medrano, Elisa Valdez (Rumaldo), and Rosa Maria Medrano.

Fernando was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Senaida Medrano; and his brothers, Nicolas Medrano and Roberto Medrano.
