Elroy Tschirhart, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away August 2, 2026 at the age of 91. He was born August 22, 1934 in Castroville, Texas, to Julius Anton Tschirhart and Almedia Haby Tschirhart.

In 1952, Elroy graduated from St. Louis High School in Castroville, and then he attended business college in San Antonio. Elroy worked as an accountant at H-E-B for forty-three years.

On June 27, 1964, Elroy married Georgia Gail Hart in Corpus Christi. They were blessed with sixty-two years of marriage and three children.

Elroy was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. He volunteered with the H-E-B senior partners, the American Red Cross, and Meals on Wheels. He and his wife started the Myasthenia Gravis Support Group. Elroy loved hunting, fishing, and watching the Astros, Cowboys, Longhorns and Spurs.

Survivors include his wife, Gail Tschirhart; son, Toby J. Tschirhart and wife Sharon (Jung) of San Antonio; daughter, Dena Tschirhart Robinson of Dallas; grandchildren, Jacob Tschirhart, Julia Tschirhart, Jenna Tschirhart, Cole Robinson, Matthew Darin Robinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Elroy was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darin J. Tschirhart; sisters, Ethel J. Corder and Anna Mae Merkle; and his brother, Omer J. Tschirhart.

Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Drive, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville Texas.
