Elaine Davis Browning, of Castroville, passed away on June 27, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born November 16, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas to Margaret Davis.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Gooding Fairchild (Lewis); granddaughter, Angie Dolgener (James 'Rodney'); great-grandchildren, Hunter Dolgener, Skyler Dolgener and Desiree Harmon; and great-great-grandchild, William Harmon.

Elaine was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Davis; husband, Robert E. Browning; son-in-law, George Gooding, and grandson, John E. Gooding.

Elaine and Robert moved to Quihi in 1961 where they began ranching in the tight-knit community. She loved going to the Quihi Dance Hall to dance with her beloved Robert and visit with her friends. She also loved playing bunco, pitch and dominos, and enjoyed hosting gatherings at her home. Elaine showed her love for her family and friends through her cooking and baking. She made the best pies, especially her apple and pecan. Elaine enjoyed gardening and always made sure her yard was immaculate with beautiful plants and flowers.

She was a wonderful grandmother who spoiled her grandchildren.  She would always take the time to play badminton, softball and board games when they came for the weekend.  She would let them stay up late even though she was tired and ready for bed.

Elaine was a great friend. She was always available to lend a helping hand by bringing food or whatever was needed. She was there for moral support and was the first to hug you tight and say, "I love you!"

She never met a stranger and was one of the sweetest, thoughtful people you could know. She loved to joke around and laugh and have a good time. She was a joy!

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Quihi Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Elaine's memory to the American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society, or the charity of your choice.
