Eddie Dell Tschirhart Biediger, of La Coste, passed away on January 28, 2021 Castroville at the age of 90 years. She was born December 29, 1930 in Rio Medina, the youngest of four children born to Edward Tschirhart and Idella R. Haegelin Tschirhart.

Eddie Dell grew up on the Tschirhart family farm through her high school years, graduating from St. Louis High School in 1948. After high school she moved to La Coste, living with relatives, and took a job at the La Coste Ledger. She met a handsome young man at the Ledger, named Francis Biediger, and that is where it all began! When Eddie Dell began working, the La Coste Ledger newspaper was still being printed. After her father-in-law, Louis Biediger, passed away they stopped printing the newspaper and focused on their print shop operations.

On June 6, 1950, Eddie Dell and Francis were married at St. Louis Church. Their marriage was blessed with fifty-six years of marriage and four children: nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Eddie Dell and Francis built their home in La Coste where they lived together for fifty-six years. After Francis passed away on April 9, 2007, Eddie Dell continued to live in their home for another ten years. When Changing Seasons in Castroville opened, she was the second person to call it home, and lived there for two years.

She was a devout member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and helped with the religious education program for a few years. She also participated in 4-H activities through her daughters. Eddie Dell and Francis were members of a bowling league, which they thoroughly enjoyed with their friends.

Survivors include her children, Deborah Herring (Carl) of Elgin, Douglas Biediger (Deborah) of Rio Medina, Catherine La Manna of Georgetown, and Francine Riedel of Rio Medina; grandchildren, Scott Herring (Jennifer), Robyn Herring, Justin Biediger, Anthony La Manna (Ashley), James La Manna (Jessica), Christina La Manna, Derek Riedel (Mary), Lee Riedel and Lauren Nishikawa (Yuta); great-grandchildren, Justin, Jaiden and Deven Biediger, Miranda, Sarah and Ryan Herring, Madison, Kinley and Sienna La Manna, Gavin and Gwyneth Riedel, Greyson Nishikawa; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Eddie Dell was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis Biediger; sons-in-law, Randy Riedel and Jack La Manna; brothers, Ira Tschirhart and Lee Tschirhart (Catherine); and her sister, Eva Tschirhart Keller (Reynold).

The Holy Rosary and Memorial Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Cemetery in La Coste.
