Dorothy Jeanette Smith Tschirhart, of San Antonio, passed away on July 15, 2023 at the age of 81. She was born July 26, 1941 in Bandera, Texas to the late Addis C. Smith and Dorothy A. Pyka Smith.

Dorothy graduated from La Coste High School and went to secretarial school immediately after high school. Dorothy worked for several mortgage companies before joining the office staff at Pat Neff Middle School. She was a hard worker and valued employee.

On May 16, 1964, Dorothy married Earl Rudolph 'Spurry' Tschirhart at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. Dorothy and Earl were blessed with fifty-five years of marriage and four children. She considered the role of motherhood paramount to all others. She devoted her life to her children as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life revolved around the activities that her children participated in such as Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTO, and FFA Booster Club. Her house was a welcoming place for the neighborhood kids; there was always food and sweet tea for anyone and everyone.

Dorothy was a devout catholic. She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church and later on St. Luke Catholic Church. She was always active within the church serving as an organist, a choir member, a member of the Bereavement Committee, and the Altar Society.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Raelene Tschirhart, Bryan and Loraine Tschirhart, Mark and Cindy Tschirhart, and Steven and Letty Tschirhart all of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jade Tschirhart, Tyler Tschirhart, Cory Tschirhart, Kristen Tschirhart, and Cody Tschirhart (Sandra); great-grandchildren, Tanner Hernandez, Lilith Aguilar, Violet Ovalle, and Ella Tschirhart; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Smith; in-laws, Ida Louise Stein, Lynn Tschirhart (Beverly), Mike Tschirhart (Sylvia) all of Castroville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Addis and Dorothy Smith; her husband, Earl Tschirhart; in-laws, Elizabeth 'Betty' Tschirhart and Julius Stein.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Holy Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
