Burleigh Lou Redus, age 89, passed away on July 16, 2021 in Rome, New York, where he lived with his daughter, Barbara and her family. He was born February 4, 1932 in Castroville, Texas to Lou E. Redus and Theresa M. Groff Redus.

In 1950, Burleigh graduated from La Coste High School. The year after he graduated from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served from 1951 to 1971, retiring with the rank of TSGT. He took great pride in his family, military career and his country.

Survivors include his children, Steve Redus (Belinda), Barbara DeBlasiis (Rocco), Stanley Redus, Brenda Palma (Mike), Beverly Redus, Stuart Redus (Kristi), Bernice Hendricks (Richard). He also has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

Burleigh was preceded in death by his wife, Rheta Redus and his daughter, Betty Meyer Redus. His one request was to return to Castroville to be laid to rest amongst his family and friends, and beside his wife, Rheta Redus.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 27, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville, Texas.
