Obituary

Brenda Chavez, of LaCoste, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at the age of 52. Brenda was born on November 9, 1973, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jesus Alberto Chavez and Martha Zepeda Chavez.

She is survived by her beloved sons, Albert Lee Lopez of Castroville, Texas, and Steven Lee Lopez of New York City, New York; her sisters, Debra Zepeda of La Coste, Texas, Barbara Phillips of San Antonio, Texas, April Chavez of San Antonio, Texas, and Ruby (Brent) Holtz of Dover, Delaware; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Alberto Chavez and Martha Zepeda Chavez, and by her beloved son, Christopher Allen Lopez.

Brenda lived life on her own terms. She remained true to herself, stood firmly in her beliefs, and loved deeply. She had a way of finding happiness in life's simplest moments, whether it was sitting outside listening to music or simply being surrounded by the people she loved.

She loved celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween, and had a special appreciation for flowers and gardening. She enjoyed dancing, listening to '80s music and country music, and always looked forward to trips to Rockport with her loving friends. Brenda was always the life of the party wherever she went.

A devoted sports fan, she proudly cheered for the Texas Longhorns, the Houston Astros, the Green Bay Packers, and her beloved Medina Valley Panthers. A proud Panther through and through, she never lost her school spirit.

Brenda was a true social butterfly. Her friends meant the world to her, and she treasured the laughter, conversations, and memories they shared throughout the years. She loved sharing home-style meals like meatloaf and pot roast, never passed up an opportunity to be with the people she loved, and always enjoyed being dolled up with her hair and nails done.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Brenda had a deep appreciation for the Bible and found comfort in reading and sharing God's Word. Her faith remained a source of strength throughout her life.

The role Brenda treasured most in life was being a mother. Her sons were her greatest joy, and there was nothing that made her prouder than being their mom.

Though her family grieves her absence, they find comfort in believing Brenda has been joyfully reunited with her beloved son, Christopher Allen Lopez, and with her parents, Jesus Alberto Chavez and Martha Zepeda Chavez, whom she loved so deeply. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the faith that sustained her, and the countless memories she leaves behind.
