Obituary

Barbara Moss Schulze of San Antonio, passed away on September 1, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born July 27, 1930, in Simmons, Texas. She was the youngest of seven children born to the late Jackson Carroll Moss and Winnie Anna Martin Moss.

Barbara grew up in George West, Mission, and Rio Medina. She graduated from La Coste High School.  On August 26, 1953, Barbara married Fred Schulze. Their marriage was blessed with five sons.

Barbara, also Mom, Nana, and Aunt Barbie, will always be remembered for her love of family. She was close to her brothers and sisters and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. She absolutely loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her five sons and their families were the pride and light of her life. Each grandchild was special, and she let them know that. Cooking and baking for her family and friends was how she showed love. Family favorites include her chocolate cake, molasses crinkles, snickerdoodles, bran muffins, silver dollar pancakes, cheesecake, and this list goes on. She would often show up to a ball game with a trunk full of homemade cookies. Birthdays were never forgotten and always accompanied by a perfect hand-selected card. She loved playing dominoes, beating everyone at Gin Rummy and drinking hot tea. Barbara was quiet and reserved and a no-nonsense lady with lots of class. She was quick to lend a helping hand. Traditions were important to her, and she instilled that in her family. Christmas was always magical. Barbara will be missed greatly and is taking a piece of all our hearts with her.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Shelley Schulze of Burnet, Drs. Randall and Barbara Schulze of San Antonio, Regan and Nicole Schulze of New Braunfels, Brenda Schulze of San Antonio, and Julie Schulze of San Antonio; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Schulze; sons, Kevin Schulze and Robin Schulze; and three brothers and three sisters.
