Barbara Judith "Judy" Rickel, age 85, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 of Alzheimers in the arms of her loving grandson, Jake Cassinelli and his wife, Becky Cassinelli.

Judy was born on April 30, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She met her soon to be husband, Kip Rickel, in 1955 at a speed skating event.

Judy and her husband Kip spent 18 years owning a successful Schwinn Bike Shop in Glendora, California. In 1975, they opened Reno, Nevada's first Schwinn Bike Shop. They moved to Redding, California in 1985 and opened Redding's first Subway Sandwich Shop. Judy and Kip retired as a top franchisee in 2012 after opening 18 Subways.

In 2017, Judy moved into the loving care of her daughter, Tyree Bolton and her husband, Travis Bolton. She moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2022 to live in the loving care of her grandson, Jake Cassinelli and his wife, Becky Cassinelli.

She is survived by her children, Tad Rickel, Tina Cassinelli and son-in-law, Tim Cassinelli, Tyree Bolton and son-in-law Travis Bolton; grandchildren, Jake (Becky), Justin (Natalie), Tayton (Joely); great-grandchildren, Kyler, Rylee, Timothy, Brooks, Kyara, and Stetson.

Preceded in heaven by her husband, Kip Rickel; daughter, Tara Rickel; and granddaughter, Krysta Timm.
