Barbara Jean Gatlin Alaniz, of Mico passed away on August 8, 2021 at the age of 78. She was born on November 6, 1942 in Carrol County, Mississippi to James R. Gatlin and Edith L. Germany Gatlin.

Barbara married Louis Alaniz and made a home in Gonzales, Louisiana. Barbara enjoyed having coffee and playing cards or dice with friends. She also loved to laugh and was famous for her hand wave and telling everyone she loved them.

Survivors include her children, Louis (Paulette) Alaniz of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Sarah (Robert) Allen of Mico, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Jones, Kailey Alaniz, Serena Alaniz, Robert Allen, Helena Allen and Trevor Allen; great-grandchildren, Christopher Mullins and Garry Mullins; and her brother, Jimmy Louis Gatlin.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Louis Alaniz; her parents; and her sister, Carolyn Knox.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Barbara's memory to Le Parc Safe Haven in Castroville, Texas.
