Amado Hernandez Mascorro, Sr., of Castroville, passed away on September 6, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born September 13, 1942 in Uvalde, Texas to Florencio Mascorro, Sr. and Herminia Hernandez Mascorro. For years he always celebrated his birthday on September 8 ^th , and only recently discovered that was not the right date when he went to renew his driver's license. After he obtained his birth certificate for the renewal, he discovered that his birthday was actually on September 13 ^th !

On January 25, 1966, Amado married Rosa Maria Cuellar. Their marriage was blessed with fifty-four years of marriage.

During Amado's career, he worked at Patriot Heights Rehabilitation Center, Medina Valley ISD, and then at BMC Doors as an environmental technician and wood worker.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Maria Mascorro; children, Nannette Escamilla (Jerry F.), Roland Mascorro, Genevieve M. Jimenez (Albert), and Amado Mascorro, Jr. (Angelica Maldonado) all of Castroville; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; brothers, Luciano Mascorro (Adela) of Somerset, and Florencio Mascorro, Jr. (Amelia) of Weslaco; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives.

Amado was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Geraldo Mascorro, and Julian H. Mascorro, Sr.; as well as an infant sister, Martha Mascorro.

Visitation will be Monday, September 13, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 5:30 p.m.  A Graveside Service and Interment will be at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
