Obituary

Alma Adela Compean Guillen was born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas Mexico on June 3, 1941. She was called to our Lord on March 18, 2024.

Alma was a proud Air Force wife, marrying her husband Rosendo in Brownsville, Texas on February 27, 1961. She traveled with Rosendo to New Brunswick, Maine and Madrid, Spain before returning to San Antonio, Texas when Rosendo was transferred to Kelly AFB. Once in San Antonio, she studied cosmetology and began a career as a hair stylist. She eventually purchased her own beauty salon and successfully operated it for over twenty-five years until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Esteban and Aurora Compean, and her sister, Maria.

Alma is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Rosendo; and her children, Alma Vega (Jesse), Jesus Guillen (Eris), Melissa Byler (Doyle), and Steven Guillen; sister, Angela (Joe); and brother, Emiliano Compean. She had eight grandchildren, Christopher (Ann), Joshua (Andrea), Matthew (Storrs), Tehani, Elvis, Noah, Roman, and Levi; five great-grandchildren, Naiomy (Esteban), Nate, Nigel, Darian, and Addie; and numerous nephews and nieces that she loved dearly.

Alma was a devout person of faith. We take comfort in knowing she is now with our Lord and is no longer in pain or suffering. She will be missed by all who knew her. Alma's ambition and dedication to her craft was inspiring. She considered her clients as friends rather than patrons and loved serving up a delicious spread for her family and clients/friends to enjoy each other's company. She loved to sing, had an infectious laugh, and never met a camera she didn't love!
